Those in the community with disability now have a new form of support. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government initiative for disability health care currently in roll out across Australia. This form of insurance is giving people with a disability the option to decide how their funding is spent and the opportunity to decide the best form of treatment to manage their disability.
To be funded under the NDIS, you must meet certain eligibility criteria including availability of the scheme where you live; your age; your residency status; your disability and in some cases, for below the age of 6, your early intervention requirements. The NDIS provides eligible people a flexible, whole person approach to the support they need to pursue and reach their goals. It also promotes community inclusion in both social and economic pursuits.
The NDIS is now active within the Ballarat region, however not all health practitioners are registered with the NDIS. We are pleased to advise that Ballarat Allied Health is a NDIS Registered Provider in the Ballarat and surrounding regions for Physiotherapy with a view to extend to Podiatry. This service is available for participants over the age of 6 or participants with a self-managed fund below the age of 6.
You may need a short burst of care from a Physiotherapist, or care for a longer time to achieve your goals. Our Physiotherapists can put a plan together to help you now, and for the future.
For further information on how the NDIS can support you through the Ballarat Allied Health clinic, please contact the clinic on 5334 1113 or through the ‘Myplace’ Participant Portal
